Oh yeah, they’ve sent the guitars into some old dustbin and just miked the shit out of it. When I listen to Mengers, I think of Spanish horror films. I love Spanish horror, especially when visiting Spain or Latin American countries. There’s some weird spiritual thing going on, and it’s just so dark and nice to jump into. It makes the world more interesting than you’re supposed to think it is by authorities. This band is from heaven sent, or is it perhaps hell. Mostly, I have a hard time understanding how come so many Spanish-speaking indie bands misuse their beautiful language. They mostly sound like weak socialists living or being crushed under a super totalitarian state instead of proudly and strongly singing it out like a flamenco artist. Sometimes Menglers dive into this pit! But they have some really nice things going on with the vocals. And the lo-fi production with all its extremely beautiful distortion… everything, is very appealing!
